Introduction From Mr. AndersonHello Eagle Ridge students and families!
I am very excited for another year of teaching art at Eagle Ridge Academy, and I am looking forward to getting to know all of my students through creating art together. In class, students will create original artworks in a variety of media both 2D and 3D. Students will also learn about art history and participate in discussions and activities that cultivate an appreciation for art and aesthetics. In doing so, students will develop a strong base of artistic knowledge and abilities and will also learn how to be more thoughtful creators and consumers of visual information. |
what are we making in art class?

A little bit about myself:
- I am originally from a rural community in western Wisconsin, but now I live in Hopkins with my wife and baby boy!
- I attended college at the University of Minnesota where I received a BA in Art, an MEd in Art Education, and a teaching license in visual arts.
- I have always loved creating art. I love to doodle and make things out of clay. My latest projects have been: woodcut prints, drawing SUPERHEROES on my comic book box, collaborative crayon scribble drawings with my son.
- This summer I worked with the Minneapolis Institute of Arts as an instructor, teaching art classes to kids in Minneapolis public parks.
- I love to teach because I think K-12 students are some of the most creative and inspirational people on the planet.
Sketchbooks
All 4th - 6th grade art students at Eagle Ridge Academy are required to own a sketchbook in order to complete sketchbook assignments. The sketchbook can be of the style and binding of your choice, but I highly recommend sketchbooks over sketchpads, as the books tend to hold the papers in place much better. Please make sure that your student has his/her sketchbook at school by August 31.
